The accident was reported at 9:00 p.m. on Jefferson Davis Highway near Cherokee Drive. A woman was reportedly attempting to cross the highway when she was hit by a 2014 Toyota Avalon that was headed south on Jefferson Davis Highway.
The victim died at the scene from blunt force injuries. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family members. Toxicology tests are pending.
The Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing an investigation.
