National State Fair Food Day – What’s Your Favorite?
For the first time ever, Food Service Direct is celebrating National State Fair Food Day! This is something we can definitely get behind, because who doesn’t love all the great fair food? Really, there’s a lot to love about state fairs. And let’s be honest, there are foods at a state fair that you typically don’t find anywhere else. From the traditional funnel cakes to corn dogs… to the crazy combinations and concoctions like fried Oreos, fried butter, and even fried cupcakes!
National Today shares a bit about the history of state fairs and the food they bring along. The first state fair in the United States was back in 1841, in Syracuse, New York. This has been a long-running, successful fair since. The second fair began in 1849 in Detroit, Michigan, but ceased in 2009.
When state fairs began, it was a chance to celebrate agriculture, highlighting the pride and local vendors. Through the years, state fairs evolved to include more industrial elements, like music, games, and rides.
It used to be that you could only enjoy those fair foods during the state fair, but places like Food Service Direct offer you the opportunity to have the goods any time of the year. They have everything you need to create your favorite food-on-a-stick, over-the-top desserts, and more!
And even though you can create some of your favorite state fair foods at home, there’s nothing quite like enjoying the full experience at the actual fair though! The sounds and smells are really what make the experience complete!
