Augusta Transit Routes To Change To Minimize Master’s Traffic
Augusta Transit during Masters week will look a little different in the next few days. The City of Augusta recently announced the traffic changes that would be made near the Augusta National. Those new traffic patterns started this week on April 1. Some of those changes is new traffic signals, lane shifts, and more.
Today more traffic changes have been announced, but these changes are regarding the Augusta Transit system.
There will be a change to Augusta Transit’s Route #5 Green Line/ Washington Road route from April 8-April 13, 2024. This will take place to help minimize the delay for riders during Masters week.
Here are the changes to Augusta Transit that will take place during Masters week:
• Inbound (towards Downtown Augusta) at the Washington Road/Alexander Drive intersection, the bus will not turn left into Alexander Drive but continue straight on Washington Road.
• Inbound riders for Kroger Supermarket and Downtown Augusta can board at either Washington Square (Subway) or River Ridge Drive (opposite National Hills Baptist Church).
• Outbound (towards Social Security Administration) riders for Kroger Supermarket or Alexander Drive must alight at River Ridge Drive (National Hills Baptist Church) or Fairway Square Shopping Center (Jersey Mikes Subs).
• Riders on Route #5 Green Line/Washington Road during Masters Week are advised to allow more time for their journeys. This is due to the possibility of sporadic and prolonged delays arising from the Masters Tournament traffic.
If you are looking to see if your route will be affected or for a bus route near you call (706) 821-1719 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They will also be able to share bus schedules and which bus will get you to your destination.
During Masters Week, it’s always about rolling with the punches. Many locals who aren’t visiting the Masters usually try to avoid the Washington Road area as best they can. The city seems to be trying to minimize traffic delays as much as it can.
