Augusta Environmental Services is hosting a tire and electronics recycling event for Richmond County residents. The event will be held on Saturday, November 18 from 7 am – 10 am. This will take place at the Richmond County Landfill.
What is the purpose of the tire and electronics recycling event?
This is an opportunity for Richmond County residents to take advantage of getting rid of any of their unwanted scrap tires and old electronics for free. Residents can recycle an unlimited amount of scraps and electronics at the event.
What can I bring to recycle?
Here are some of the details if you decide to recycle:
– Tires may be on or off the rim
– Electronics include laptops, computers, cell phones, printers, and more!
– Must show proof of Richmond County residency
No tire companies or businesses are allowed to participate in this event.
Why should I recycle my tires and electronics?
When having a car you may have gone through a set of tires and not be sure what to do with the older tires. Did you know that they could be recycled? Yes! Recycling is an option for tires. Just dumping them in a junk yard can create toxins and pose a threat to the environment.
But this alternative is a great way to be sure that they are disposed of in the best way.
When recycling car tires, you are helping reduce pollution.
Recycle Tires offers a wide variety of products. For example, rubberized asphalt is less prone to cracks and absorbs more noise.
E-waste disposal is recycling old electronic devices. Many old electronic devices contain toxic substances that include lead, mercury, cadmium, beryllium, polyvinyl chloride, and chromium. When not disposed of correctly those chemicals can seep into the soil leading to pollution of water and the air. Recycling old devices also saves energy.
This will be the last tire and electronics recycling event hosted by the Augusta Environmental Services of the year.
