Is Augusta Overweight
Is Augusta overweight? Well according to a new survey from WalletHub, we are. I don’t necessarily believe this, but lets unpack the data and see why they’re hating on us. Here’s how WalletHub determined the list. This is what they said on their website. “In order to determine the fattest cities in America, WalletHub compared 100 of the most populated U.S Metro areas across three key dimensions.”
Those dimensions are obesity and overweight, health consequences and food and fitness. Now we weren’t in the top 10 on the list, but we did crack the top 15. Augusta landed at number 13 on WalletHub’s list. However, if you look at the top 20 on this list I think you might notice a particular trend.
All of the cities at the top of the list are in the South! Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, we’re all there. So WalletHub, you’re telling me that the whole South is overweight?! I’m not buying it! Listen, we’ve got some of the world’s best food down here, and by goodness we enjoy it, and will continue to enjoy it!
Yeah maybe we could get out and exercise a little more, but who couldn’t right? Stop picking on the South! We like our food fried and we enjoy a Waffle House run every now and then. We might be a little chubby, but you know what, I’d rather be fat and happy than skinny and miserable!
