Two Teens killed in a head-on collision Monday in Edgefield County have been identified.

The Edgefield County Coroner's Office says 18-year-old Joshua Brooks of Beech Island and 19-year-old Ashlee Price of Aiken were killed in the crash at 1:28 pm on Augusta Road, near the National Wild Turkey Federation office.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says police were in pursuit of the driver of a 2007 Honda Civic when the crash occurred.

What Led to the Crash

The two teens killed were in a car that was headed north on Highway 25 while eluding law enforcement, according to officials. They said the Honda Civic veered off the right side of the road while attempting to pass a vehicle. The car re-entered the road, crossed the center line and hit a southbound logging truck head-on.

Brooks and Price were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the truck driver was injured and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The section of Highway 25 near the accident scene was closed for nearly 7 hours as a result of the crash. It didn't re-open until just before 10 pm.

It's not known why police were pursuing the driver of the Honda Civic.
