Why they're breaking up
Jim is now playing his golf on the PGA Tour Champions Tour. Currently, Furyk, 53 is fighting through some injuries and not playing that often. Because of his limited schedule, he began making suggestions to “Fluff” that maybe he should begin looking for another bag. A bag back on the “big tour”, the PGA Tour. “Fluff”, according to Jim was hesitant, after all, they’d been together for 25 years. Jim had been very good to “Fluff”, and there were a lot of success stories along the way. Earlier this year, before the Champions tour schedule got started, Fluff picked up the bag of CT Pan at the Sony. This week, in Dallas, will mark the ninth week the duo has worked together. All along the way, Furyk kemp urging Cowan to go full time with Pan, Cowan kept resisting.
How Jim Furyk and Mike Cowan feel about it
I texted Jim to ask him about it, and he mentioned how much he loves Cowan, and that all he really wanted was what was best for him and his family. So, Cowan, now 76 years old is back out on the PGA tour.
Cowan told Golfweek, "It's hard to part ways after 25 years. Sometimes the right thing to do is staring you right in the face and you've got to have the guts to go do it."
Cowan’s career has included stints with Peter Jacobsen, he even caddied for Peter last year at Pebble Beach when Jacobsen played in his last professional event. Along the way, Cowan also caddied for Fred Couples, and he was Tiger’s caddie when Tiger first got out on tour.
Cowan thinks it’s important to do what you enjoy. He says it’s pretty simple. He says the money is a nice sidelight, but it ‘s not the money that makes you happy. Just keep on keeping on. And that’s just what “Fluff” is going to do.
Drinks You Can Only Get During Masters Week In The CSRA
You know what I love about Golf Week? It's the Masters specialty drinks and food menus. Local restaurants pull out some awesome tricks and treats for the locals and travelers to try.
When it comes to crafting a special menu for Masters week, it's not just happening here in the CSRA, it's happening all over the nation!
In Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, about five hours away from Augusta, Drunken Jack's Restaurant and Lounge will honor the Masters with two special drinks! One is called Tee Time and the other is the Sweet and Spicy Watermelon Margarita. They will create the drinks with Elijah Craig Bourbon and Maestro Dobel Tequila.
Even further from Augusta is Rockfish in Edgartown, Massechesuts. They also have two special cocktails dedicated to this special week.
Azalea Cocktail: Empress Rose Gin, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and a splash of grenadine garnished with baby’s breath
The Azalea is actually the signature cocktail of the Masters golf tournament. Many places will be serving their version of this drink around the nation.
Another specialty drink that will be on the menu is the John Daly, named after an American professional golfer.
John Daly: Tito’s Vodka, house-made lemonade, iced tea garnished with fresh mint
All over the nation this week restaurants, lounges, and more will be finding ways to incorporate and bring the Masters into their establishments. Wether that is by having a watch party or creating special menus such as these.
Enough about those out-of-town spots, we've got the Masters right here at home, let's see how some of the local spots are getting down with their specialty drinks for this week.
Most of these perfectly crafted menus have already gone into full effect around the city of Augusta.
