Think about it, going to celebrate a team that trained and practiced right in your "backyard" and came out on top out of everybody in the nation.
The City of Columbia will host the NCAA Championship Parade to honor the University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball team’s NCAA National Championship.
The parade will be held on Sunday, April 14, around 2 p.m. on the 1700 block of Main Street (corner of Main and Laurel Streets). The parade will include Coach Dawn Staley, players, and other dignitaries to speak.
Officials say the city will invite local elected officials, government entities, and community partners to join Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, city council members, and USC officials in the parade.
The South Carolina Gamecocks won the championship with an 87-75 victory over Iowa in the title game on Sunday. Not only did they take home the championship but they had a perfect 38-0 season - meaning no games lost.
Last year south Carolina only lost one game, and that was to Iowa in the Final Four.
This is their third national championship title. The team also won championships in 2017 and 2022.

Roads will re-open once the parade has ended and clean-up has been completed.
All eyes were on this game as South Carlina Gamecocks played against Iowa's Caitlin Clark. Caitlin Clark is a Women's Basketball Superstar and National Player of the Year. Her collegiate career ended with a 30-point, 5-assist performance lead. She announced that she would be entering herself in to the WNBA Draft.
