Suspect Named in Bolt Drive Murder, Another Wanted for Questioning
A suspect has been named in the Bolt Drive murder in Dogwood Terrace subdivision in Augusta on Monday.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Makel Jones of Augusta was shot April 1 just before midnight. Deputies responded and were told Jones had been taken to Wellstar MCG by private vehicle where he died a short time later. A motive for the deadly shooting has not been given.
Wanted for Jones’ Murder
The suspect named in the Bolt Drive murder is 27-year-old Dominique Dezel Beal in connection with Monday’s deadly shooting. Beal is described as:
- Black
- 5’7″
- 250 pounds
- Known to frequent the Spiderweb neighborhood in Beech Island, SC and the Dogwood Terrace neighborhood in Augusta
Beal has active warrants on file with the Sheriff’s Office for Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

Wanted for Questioning in Jones’ Murder
Investigators say they are looking for 27-year-old Denzel Rafael Shaw for questioning in Makel Jones’ murder on April 1.
Shaw is described as:
- Black
- 5’7″
- 130 pounds
- Known to frequent the Spiderweb neighborhood in Beech Island, SC and the Dogwood Terrace neighborhood in Augusta.
Shaw has multiple outstanding warrants through the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals for unrelated incidents.
