The Mayor's Masters Reception means one thing.  The 88th Masters Tournament in Augusta is just days away.

Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson announced today the Mayor's Masters Reception will be held this Saturday, April 6,  from 5 to 9 pm at the Augusta Common on Reynolds Street in downtown Augusta.

There will be two honorees including Fanny Sunesson, the first female caddie to win a men's major golf championship, and Jaylen Watson, cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs who graduated from Lucy Craft Laney High School in Augusta.  Johnson will also present the 2024 Distinguished Service Award.

"Moving the event to Saturday provides us the ability to have a relaxed, family-friendly event that won't interfere with the tournament.  It's also an excellent way to kick off tournament week in our community," said Johnson in a news release.

North Augusta Mayor Briton Williams, Aiken Mayor Teddy Milner and Columbia County Chairman Doug Duncan were also invited to take part in the event.

Johnson said, "This year's event will continue to be a local leadership effort.  The impact of the tournament is felt across the region, and the Mayor's Masters Reception should reflect that."

The first Mayor's Masters Reception was held in 1999 and was created by then Mayor Bob Young.

Admission to Saturday's event is free.
