Today marks the start of three weeks of early voting for the March 12th Presidential Preference Primary in Georgia.  Early in-person voting runs from February 19 to March 8, including Saturdays.  Some counties, including Richmond County, will also offer Sunday voting.  You can request either a Democratic or Republican ballot, regardless of whether you are registered with either party.

New Provision in Georgia Law Regarding Voting

  • Two hours of paid leave is available to workers to go vote, but it must be arranged and cleared with your employer.

In Columbia County:

  • Advance voting will be held in Building G-3 at the Evans Government Center, as well as the former Euchee Creek Library in Grovetown.
  • Advance voting hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am until 5 pm.
  • Advance voting hours on Saturday, March 24 and Saturday, March 2 are 9 am until 5 pm.
  • No Sunday voting in Columbia County

In Richmond County:

  • Advance voting will be held at 4 locations, including the Municipal Building, the Warren Road Community Center, the Robert Howard Community Center at Diamond Lakes, and the Charles Evans Community Center on Highland Avenue
  • Advance voting hours are from 8:30 am until 6 pm. through March 2
  • Sunday, March 3:  voting hours are 8:30 am until 6 pm at the Municipal Building only
  • March 4-8 will be the last week of early voting.  All four advance voting locations will be open from 8:30 am until 6 pm.

Absentee Ballots and Voting by Mail:

  • Georgians may submit requests for absentee ballots through March 1
  • Ballots have already started to be mailed to those who have requested them.  They must be returned and received by the elections office in your county by 7 pm on election day, March 12.
  • You can return your ballot either in-person at your county elections office any time up to 7 pm on March 12; in a ballot dropbox by March 8; or by mail.  All absentee ballots must be received by the elections office by 7 pm on March 12
