Scenthound - Aiken

Dog moms and dad now have a new spot for taking care of their beloved fur babies.  Scenthound in Aiken opened in early January. They offer quick, affordable services to help keep your dog clean and healthy. As a dog owner, this is definitely a unique service that I'd love for my pups to keep them smelling good, and keep a check on their health!

The Franchise

I had a chance to chat with Charles Hartz about Scenthound and what drew him to the franchise.  Charles has a lot of experience in various businesses, including The Village Cafe in Woodside in Aiken. In addition, he had 4 Dunkin Donuts franchise locations.  Recently, he sold off those business, but decided he didn't want to spend his days just playing golf.  So, he started doing research on various franchise opportunities and was impressed with the Scenthounds' business model.

Charles felt that Scenthound put a lot of thought into what would set them apart.  First of all, he liked how Scenthound was doing things differently than others when it comes to taking care of your dog.  He described it as "The Jiffy Lube of dog cleanliness and health."  He points out that the business model has them find a location in a strip mall. This makes it convenient for the dog owner to drop off heir dog and run errands or do some shopping while their dog is being groomed.

Setting up an appointment for your pup can be done in the app.  And Charles said you drop off your dog, and in 30 minutes, your dog gets their ears and teeth cleaned, they get bathed, and have their nails clipped.

Educating Dog Owners

And when asked about what makes them different than other grooming places, he said a big part of it is the education on the condition of your dog.  They do a 6-point wellness check at every visit. This is what they call a S.C.E.N.T Check. This stands for: Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, Teeth.  And after their visit, the owner gets a report card to see what's going on with their dog.

Scenthound is a monthly plan-based service, with no contract.  Their memberships start at $35. And you are only going to pay for what you need for your dog.

Another thing that helps Scenthound stand out among the rest is their respect for your time.  They aim to get your dog's appointment done in a timely manner, so you don't have to drop them off for a whole day, or even half the day!

Scenthound In Aiken

Scenthound in Aiken is the third location of the franchise in South Carolina. The other locations are in Mt. Pleasant and Charleston.  And Aiken was a prime location for this amazing new business.  Anyone who visits Aiken knows they are a very dog-friendly city.  Also, with the equestrian community, many of those people are dog owners as well.
