Deadly Christmas Shootings in Aiken and Richmond Counties
Two people were shot and killed in separate incidents in Aiken County over the Christmas weekend.
On Christmas Eve, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office got a report that shots were fired in the 100 block of Squire Street in Aiken, just after 11 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they found a black male with at least one gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name still hasn’t been released.
A suspect identified only as “Tony” reportedly left the scene in a dark blue Chevy Suburban or Trailblazer.

Aiken County authorities say the suspect is known to frequent the Florence area.
Man Arrested in Deadly Shooting Christmas Day
A second deadly shooting was reported in Aiken County over the weekend. This one was reported around 5:40 pm at a home in the 200 block of Plantation Road in Jackson.
Aiken County investigators say 37-year-old Willie Trotty was shot at least one time and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses identified 26-year-old Jean Pierre Washington of Jackson as the shooter. Investigators say Washington was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with Manslaughter and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
Witnesses told authorities the shooting stemmed from an argument between Washington and the victim.
In Richmond County Christmas Eve
A deadly shooting was reported on Christmas Eve in Richmond County.
Deputies were called to the 2300 block of Boykin Road around 11:40 pm. When they arrived they found 36-year-old Steve Luke with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to Wellstar MCG where he died a short time later. An autopsy has been scheduled.
So far, no one has been charged in connection with Luke’s death.
