Enjoy The Views And The Market

This is such a great place to visit; it’s Beaufort’s neighbor. Plenty of places here to get some steps in while enjoying the beautiful views. Day Trip from Augusta: Port Royal, SC - 2 hours, 29 minutes.

The Fort Port Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday from 9 til noon. Fresh seafood, local seasonal vegetables, shrimp, oysters, and more. I spent an hour here, and it is a great farmer's market.

Hungry?

Come hungry because the food is incredible! On my visit, they had crab soup, bar-b-que, bagels, crab cakes, and more!

Like Sharks?

On the waterfront, there is a boardwalk and a really cool observation tower. The Henry Robinson Boardwalk (Sands Boardwalk) and Sands Beach area is a great place to get exercise, too! By the way, the locals call the Sands area Shark Tooth Island. You’ll usually find plenty of shark teeth here.

The Port Royal area is also loaded with great shops and dining opportunities. Coffee shops like Urban Nest, seafood (think FRESH!), restaurants, sandwiches, and more.

Adventures!

You can make your Day Trip from Augusta: Port Royal, SC, even better by renting golf carts or e-bikes and even kayaks, paddleboards, and more at the local beach shop, Get Outdoors.

Semper Fidelis

Port Royal is also home to the U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Depot, known as Parris Island.  As we mentioned before, Port Royal's neighbor is Beaufort, SC, only 10 minutes away. That's another Day Trip From Augusta story for later. It's a very unique historic city!

Happy travels and have fun!
