TORNADO WATCH 98 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9:00 PM EDT FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS GA . GEMA/HS Alert: Columbia All Hazards
Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of McDuffie, Columbia, southeastern Lincoln, Burke, Richmond, Edgefield, southwestern Aiken, southwestern Saluda and southeastern McCormick Counties through 530 PM EDT Special Weather Statement issued April 5 at 4:47PM EDT by NWS Columbia SC At 446 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Sharon to near East Dublin. Movement was northeast at 70 mph. Intensification is likely and warnings may be needed within the hour.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 55 mph.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

North Augusta, Grovetown, Evans, Thomson, Waynesboro, Fort Gordon, Augusta, Clearwater, Martinez, Belvedere, Edgefield, Hephzibah, Harlem, Johnston, Midville, Glendale, Gough, South Augusta, Clarks Hill Recreation Area and Edgefield County Airport.
This includes the following highways…
Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 167 and 201.
Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 0 and 13.
Interstate 520 in Georgia between mile markers 1 and 15.
Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 23.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 9:00 PM EDT for east central Georgia…and central South Carolina.
