Masters Traffic Changes Go into Effect Today
Masters traffic changes for this year are now in effect.
Augusta’s Traffic and Engineering Department announced last week that as of April 1, some changes would be going into effect designed to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible. throughout Masters traffic changes will be in effect the week of the Masters Tournament, April 8-15.
Traffic Changes in Effect as of April 1
- The new traffic signal at Washington Road and River Ridge Drive is now controlling traffic at that location
- A U-turn lane has been installed on Riverwatch Parkway at Topgolf Way and two westbound lanes will be shifted to the right to make room
- The outside left turn lane (westbound to southbound) on Riverwatch Parkway will be closed for traffic safety reasons throughout the entire tournament
- The outside left turn lane on Alexander Drive at Washington Road (southbound to eastbound) will be repainted and converted to a through lane for the duration of the Masters Tournament.

Augusta Regional Airport Prepares for Influx of Masters Guests
In addition to its regular destinations of Washington D.C., Dallas, Charlotte and Atlanta, Delta and American Airlines are offering additional direct flights to and from Augusta Regional Airport from April 8-15. This includes direct service to and from New York, Detroit, Boston, Austin, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Miami, and Chicago
“As we continue to grow our airport, this year there will be some residual ongoing construction projects in April. However, it will not impact the Airport’s capacity or operations. This year we are especially excited to feature our two new additional aircraft boarding bridges, our new Master Concessionaire, Tailwind Hospitality, and the record number of flights and destinations,” said Herbert L. Judon Jr., Airport Executive Director.
A reminder that parking protocols for all “for hire” commercial ground transportation operators will continue as part of the airport’s curb enforcement implementation.
For-profit businesses that enter the airport property for the sole purpose of picking up passengers during Masters week will be required to pay a nominal trip fee of $2 to gain access to a designated parking lot adjacent to the main terminal building.
Why Wait For Masters-Let's Make Homemade Pimento Cheese
Pimento cheese, the caviar of the South, Atlanta Paté or just good ol’ minter cheese. Homemade pimento cheese is so good and so easy to make. Last week Cody gave you 7 great places to buy pimento cheese, but why buy it when you can have homemade and you can tweak it and make it your own. So I had to go out and make some homemade pimento cheese this weekend, and I’m blaming it all on Cody.
I use to think that it was so hard to make homemade pimento cheese. I went on line and looked and looked until I found one that was easy and boom I did it and now, I only want to have it at home.
What’s Needed To Make Pimento Cheese?
Now that I’ve made it for a few years, it’s so easy to make and here is what is needed and how to make it. Now keep in mind, this is my recipe and you can change it to your taste.
- 8oz block of sharp cheddar cheese
- 80z block of pepper jack cheese
- 4 oz jar of diced pimento’s
- 1 cup of mayonnaise
- Any spices that you may want to add
The first and most important step is what you do to the cheese. Do not buy pre shredded cheese. It’s just not the same. Get block cheese and shred it your self. Once the cheese is shredded, drain your jar of pimento’s and mix them all in a bowl. Now the mayonnaise part is where it can get a little tricky if you aren’t careful. I use a cup for mine. Keep this in mind, you can always add more, but you can’t take it out.
Once all the ingredients are in the bowl, I add a dash or two of chipotle seasoning. Between the pepper jack cheese and the chipotle, it gives me just enough kick. The chipotle is like the mayonnaise, you add more, you can’t take it out. Mix all of the ingredients together, once it thickens up, do a taste test and see where you are. If you need a little more mayonnaise, add it. If you need a little more of any of the spices you like add them and mix some more.

These are the 5 simple ingredients that I use for my homemade pimento cheese.

15 minutes later its served and ready to go
You Now Have Homemade Pimento Cheese, What Now?
We’ll you dig in and eat. Serve it with crackers, on white bread or just eat it with a spoon. You are good to go. Now, this is just my thought. The best way to eat pimento cheese is on a burger. Replace the sliced cheese, put ya big on spoonful on the burger, close the grill for a few minutes and you are ready to go. This is my favorite burger of all time, A pimento cheeseburger. It can’t be beat and you are starting to see it on menus all over the C-S-R-A.
Once you get your recipe where you want it, and people start trying it and loving it, you will be asked to bring this to every gathering you attend. It can be your go to and it doesn’t take long to fix so you will not have to put a lot of time in.
Here are a few different recipes that you can use to make your own. I can’t stress enough, make it several time and try some things, make it your own. When you finish your first dish, feel free to call me and I’ll come by and take a sample and see how you did. LOL. Now that you know how easy it is to make, you’ll never buy it in the store again.
