Three Deadly Accidents in Aiken County in a Week
Three deadly accidents in Aiken County have claimed three lives in the past seven days.
A Graniteville woman was killed in a single vehicle wreck late last night on Howlandville Road in Aiken County.
Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables says 21-year-old Ramsey Byers was the lone occupant of a 2008 Ford SUV that veered off the road, hit a culvert, then struck a tree just before midnight.
Ables says Byers was pronounced dead at the scene. Results of toxicology tests are pending.
Man Killed in Electric Scooter Accident February 26
A man who was riding an electric scooter was killed Monday when his vehicle was hit by a pickup truck on Ascauga Lake Road in Aiken County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said 38-year-old Oscar King of Graniteville was headed south on the scooter at 8:40 pm when he was hit by the pickup truck traveling in the same direction.
King was taken to Wellstar MCG where he was pronounced dead from his injuries at 9:21 pm.
Toxicology analysis is pending.
One Killed in Fiery Crash on I-20 February 21
One person was killed in a single vehicle accident on I-20 near Exit 6 on February 21 in Aiken County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver of a car headed west on I-20 lost control, veered off the right side of the road, struck a traffic sign, then multiple trees before bursting into flames.
Authorities were not able to identify the driver due to severe thermal injuries. The body was sent to Newberry for an autopsy to be identified and to determine the cause of death.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
Three Vehicle Crash Today in Grovetown Causes Huge Backup
A three vehicle wreck this morning in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near the Grovetown exit had traffic backed up from Exit 193 to Exit 190.
Minor injuries were reported in the wreck. Traffic backed-up quickly since one lane of traffic was blocked while emergency crews were on the scene.
