Head-On Collision Saturday in Aiken County Claims Another Life
A head-on collision late Saturday afternoon in Aiken County has now claimed the lives of all three people involved in the wreck.
It happened Saturday around 4:10 pm at the intersection of Williston Road and Camelia Drive in Beech Island.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by 52-year-old Angela Hancock crossed the center line and struck a Toyota Camry head-on. Hancock and a front seat passenger in her vehicle, 46-year-old Eric Sargent, died at the scene of the wreck. Both were from Williston.
The driver of the Camry, 46-year-old Tabatha Kitchings of Aiken, was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was taken to an area hospital, where she was reported to be in serious condition.
Today, Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables says Kitchings died this morning at Wellstar MCG from injuries received in the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety says 26 people have been killed in accidents in the state since the beginning of 2024. Five deaths have been reported in Aiken County alone since January first.
Aiken County Teen Killed Last Week in a Single Vehicle Accident
Just three days before Saturday’s deadly crash on Williston Road, 18-year-old Emily Heath was killed in a single vehicle accident Wednesday morning on Green Pond Road at Modoc Lane. The Silver Bluff High School student was reportedly on her way to a work study program when she lost control of the vehicle at 9:50 a.m. The vehicle crossed the center line, veered off the road and struck a tree. Heath died at the scene. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of the accident. Toxicology analysis is pending.
Authorities are also still investigating the cause of an accident January 5 on Sudlow Lake Road just north of North Augusta.
Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said 41-year-old Stephen Rouse was killed when his vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree.
