Augusta University Sports Department Gets A Generous Gift
Augusta University is getting a big gift from a local business owner and his wife. Alvin and Yvette Harris are longtime supporters of the university.
The Alvin and Yvette Sports Performance Center is a new sports training center for student-athletes at the university. The sports center will be constructed on the south side of Christenberry Fieldhouse on the Forest Hills Campus. It will be replacing the current weight room and any other athletic areas that have been outgrown.
According to Ryan Erlacher, the Director of athletics for Augusta University, they are thankful for this generous gift. It will help maintain the priority of their student-athletes overall health, wellness, and development. The center will not only improve the experience for current student-athletes but for generations to come.
The facility will be equipped with essential fitness machines, free weights, and other tools to help student-athletes boost strength and enhance performance, while also providing appropriate training and conditioning to help prevent injuries.
This will serve as a hub for all student-athletes, including basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, golf, track and field, tennis, and cheer.
