Snacks for the Big Game This Year More Affordable
A ticket to Super Bowl LVII might cost an arm and a leg, but if you’re having a party at your house, you’ll be happy to know game-day food is actually cheaper this year than in 2022.
Overall, food costs are up nearly 12% thanks to inflation, but some party staples, like chicken wings and guacamole, should cost less this year.
Avocado prices are down about 20% when compared to last year. The average cost of chicken wings this year is $2.65 a pound compared to $3.38 last year. Even back and sirloin steak prices are down this year.
On the flip side, get ready to shell out more for beer, soda and chips. Beer prices are up about 11%, while soda has seen a nearly 25% increase in price since 2022. Potato chips are up a whopping 22% over last year, according to Michael Swanson, Chief Agricultural Economist for Wells Fargo.
Super Bowl LVII will be held February 12 in Glendale, Arizona. It will be The Philadelphia Eagles versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Kickoff time is 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FOX.
