South Carolina And Georgia Eat More Of These Than Other States
Now, this is something we can be proud of! For once, South Carolina and Georgia make the number one and two spots on a GOOD list! When it comes to our love of chicken wings, according to Pantry and Larder, South Carolina consumes the most! The average South Carolinian eats around 128 wings a year. And Georgia isn’t far behind. With the average Georgian eating 124 wings a year!
In third place for most wings eaten in a year, we have North Carolina. They average around 116 a year. As for which state consumes the least? Idaho. They only eat an average of 43 wings per year! We could do that in one sitting (kidding, kind of…)!
When it comes to wings, there’s one day of the year where 5% of all wing consumption happens… and that’s the day of a really big football game! So how many wings are consumed in the United States each year? 28 billion! According to Pantry and Larder, that’s enough to take you to the moon and back 3 times if you line them up end to end!
Let’s face it, we’re not that surprised about Americans’ love for chicken wings! There are so many ways to enjoy them: fried, grilled, baked, even air-fried, or in the crockpot. There are a lot of great recipes out there. Here are a few of our favorites!
But, we are a bit divided on what kind of wing! It seems 46% of Americans prefer drumettes and 25% like the flats. A mere 10% like the whole wing, and 19% have no preference. Also, over half of Americans (54%) prefer bone-in wings over boneless (46%).
