Jim Hudson Lexus Donates $1 Million to New Augusta Tech Training Center
A $1 million check was presented to Augusta Technical College today by the Jim Hudson Auto Group. The money will be used to develop a new automotive training center in the Laney Walker area.
The existing facility on the Augusta Tech campus is roughly 10,000 square feet. The new facility will be six times the size, at roughly 65,000 square feet. That will make way for over 1,250 students to get training in 16 certification programs that will be offered there. It will become the largest automotive training center in the state.
Augusta National Golf Club and Jim Hudson Lexus each committed $1 million to the project back in April. The automotive group’s $1 million donation will help Augusta Tech become the flagship location for extensive automotive training in the areas of electrical/hybrid technology, heavy and light duty diesel, auto body and collusion repair, motorsports technology, and a host of other emerging technologies in the automotive industry.
