FedEx Driver Arrested in North Carolina
“Crimes of opportunity”
Fox News reports a FedEx driver in North Carolina has been arrested for allegedly stealing items from homes.
Gregory Thomas Bufkin is accused of committing at least 12 break-ins in the Macon County area. Ultimately what led to his arrest was footage from one woman’s security camera.
On the video, Bufkin notices the camera and quickly hurries out of the home.
After this discovery, investigators interview him. In addition, they seized several pieces of evidence. They found some items in Bufkin’s FedEx delivery truck.
The sheriff described this activity as crimes of opportunity due to the fact that many homes had left doors or windows unlocked.
As a result, Bufkin is facing dozens of charges: 7 counts felony possession of stolen goods, 7 counts breaking and entering, 7 counts larceny and 6 counts of larceny of a firearm.
Investigation will be ongoing, and more charges could follow. Bufkin is in custody at Macon County Detention Center. His bond is $180,000.
This isn’t the first time a delivery driver was arrested. Earlier this month, one driver admitted to dumping hundreds of packages in east Alabama.
This is a great reminder to lock your doors and windows. Even when you’re at home, it’s always best to keep the doors locked. This type of incident could happen anywhere.
And when it comes to getting packages, beware of any you didn’t order!
