Ashley Brown: Well the Atlanta Braves head to the All-Star break on a win. They beat San Diego 6-3 last night. Travis Darno two home runs and four RBIs. Chris Sale picked up his major league leading 13th win. He’s been great this year. The Braves are off until Friday when they play host to St. Louis. The All-Star game will take place tomorrow night. Tonight it’s the Home Run Derby at 8:00.
And also over the weekend, the Futures Game. That’s the top prospects and players from minor league baseball and, former Greenbrier standout Chase Dollander, the first-round pick last year, the Colorado Rockies started the game for the National League. He pitched a scoreless first National League, beat the American League 6 to 1.
And speaking of the Major League Baseball draft, a round one took place yesterday, the number one overall pick, Travis Bazzana. He is a second baseman from Oregon State picked by Cleveland. Charlie Condon of the University of Georgia was the third overall pick by the Colorado Rockies.
