Women’s College Basketball, Braves, and More – 20/20 Sports With A.B.
Ashley Brown: Well, Max Freed struck out a career-high 13 batters in seven innings, and, Ozzie Albies had a three-run homer in the sixth that broke open a 3-3 tie, and the Braves beat the Red Sox 8-3 last night. The Braves have now won three of four. They’ll play a day game at Fenway Park today at 1:35.
The Augusta GreenJackets, uh not as good a news there. They lose to Myrtle Beach on the road last night 3 to 2. The Jackets have now lost four of five. They’ll play in Myrtle Beach again tonight at 7:05.
In the NFL, Christian McCaffrey, for the second time has set a new high for running backs in terms of money made. He has signed a two-year contract extension with San Fran. Not only will they add 8 million to his existing deal for this year, the next two years, he’ll make an average of 19 million per season.
Also a contract extension in women’s college basketball. Geno Auriemma will sign a deal that will keep him in Storrs, Connecticut for the next five years. Next year will be his 40th. He’s won 11 titles with UConn.

Ashley Brown: Well, we’re down to 16 teams left in college baseball. The Super Regionals at eight different sites will get underway on Friday for Georgia and Clemson. They will start on Saturday. Georgia plays host to NC state at noon and Clemson plays host to Florida at 2:00. Those series will be handled on Saturday, Sunday and the if game, the third game of that best-of-three series, would be on Monday.
In the Major Leagues, it was the Braves over the Red Sox 8 to 3 last night. Max Freed seven strong innings. He struck out a career-high 13, and Ozzie Albies had a huge three-run homer in the sixth. The Braves have now won three of four. They play a day game at Fenway Park today at 1:35.
We’re also one day away from the NBA finals getting underway. Tomorrow night, Dallas at Boston. And one day away from Jack’s Tournament, the Memorial in Dublin, Ohio at Muirfield Village. Round one of that event is tomorrow as well.

Ashley Brown, or A.B. as he’s known, is a sports commentator, columnist, and broadcast veteran. He was born and raised in the Augusta area. A.B. attended Lakeside High School and graduated in 1989. After high school, he attended Columbus State University on a basketball scholarship.
