In addition to Appalachian State beating Texas A&M, Marshall upset of Notre Dame on Saturday. You can add the Georgia South Eagles to the list of “Giant Killers” of teams who pulled off upset wins in college football on Saturday. Georgia Southern beat Nebraska. Scott Frost is out as Head Coach.
According to ESPN, Associate head coach Mickey Joseph will take over for the rest of the season for the Cornhuskers.
“Earlier today I met with Coach Frost and informed him we were making a change in the leadership of our football program, effective immediately. Nebraska vice chancellor for athletics Trev Alberts said in a statement.
Nebraska was the favorite heading into the game, but Frost was already on the hot seat. The Cornhuskers had only won 34% of their games under Frost. They have not had a winning season since 2016 when they were 9-4.
In addition to Georgia Southern getting national attention for the win, QB Kyle Vantrease was named National Player of the Week by Walter Camp. He passed for 409 yards and one touchdown and had the game-winning eight-yard touchdown run with 36 seconds left as Georgia Southern beat Nebraska 45-42.
