Salvation Army Augusta Urgently Seeking $50,000 to Reach Holiday Goals
At the Center of Hope, 80 people find shelter to sleep each night, while the kitchen provides 200 hot meals daily. Even the smallest donations positively impact the shelter; just $5 can provide two nourishing meals.
“Whether it’s the change you just used from buying Christmas presents, every single penny counts. We just want the community to know that money stays local and really makes a difference.” Every contribution counts,” said Janelys Villata, marketing manager for the Salvation Army of Augusta, to Fox 54 News.
This money helps essential services that address poverty, addiction, and hardships keep going throughout the year, including emergency overnight shelters.
The Salvation Army of Augusta’s Area Commander, Major Jonathan Raymer, expressed how the campaign’s success relies on community support. “We are calling on our community to help us bridge the gap in these final days. Together, we can make a difference for those who rely on our services,” said Rymer to WRDW-TV.
Volunteer Calvin Johnson explained the importance of each donation. “It is going to help those who are less fortunate than a lot of us who may be in need,” said Johnson to WRDW-TV.
