School choice programs have become a hot topic of debate in the last few years, which is bewildering to me, how could making the best choice for your child be controversial? While there are arguments made on each side of the issue, in the end you really have to do some soul searching and decide what is the best option for your child and how you want them to begin their journey into society. This Saturday, you can get the facts and meet lots of experts in school choice at the expo.  You as a parent owe it to yourself and your child to look at all the options and decide the best course for your family.

There are tons of volumes of research available showing the benefits and downfalls of both public schooling and more one on one experiences like homeschool or micro-schools.  While there are many arguments to be made as to whether homeschooling or public school is better, what cannot be denied is that parents getting more involved in their child's education process is a definite trend on the rise all over the country.

Get The Facts

This Saturday the CSRA School Choice Expo is taking place at the Kroc Center, downtown Augusta from 10am-2pm. The Expo will give you as a parent access to information on what exactly your options are. you'll have the opportunity to meet the experts in our area on things like homeschool, private school and charter school options. If your child has difficulty learning in the traditional setting, get advice from leading experts in ADHD, autism and dyslexia and find an option that suits your child's needs better. Find out what therapy services may be available and what you need to do to get more involved. There are even scholarships available for children K-12 and the expo is the place to answer all your questions about how to access them. Get information on STEM, Art and Music and find out how these things can enhance your students overall school performance.

5 Physical Activities in Augusta That are Tailored Towards Homeschooled Kids to Keep Them Active

Are your kids homeschooled but you want a way for them to participate in art, P.E., music, and sports?

Sometimes with homeschooling, it's easy to go through the regular academic work assignments and forget to put in that needed exercise. At most public schools, a full class is dedicated solely to some type of physical activity. Whether that is walking, dodgeball, running, etc.

Luckly, there are many CSRA activities that are geared towards kids who are homeschooled. This can easily accomplish the physical activity part of the day.

Kids must indulge in some physical activity for at least one hour every day. Implementing regular physical activities improves muscle strength and boosts endurance.

Establishing a consistent physical workout schedule during the homeschooling day doesn't have to be difficult, especially with some of the ideas that are listed below. Physical activities can range from sports, a jog or bike ride around the neighborhood, etc.

For these classes listed below, most have a small number that are able to register for each class. Your kid will then be able to be in a small population setting. They will also have the opportunity for exercise lesson plans to be tailored to them. Not only does this activity have to stay during the school days, but your child may find interest in the activity and want to make it a part of their normal routine at home or a routine hobby.

Physical Activities for Homeschooled Kids in the CSRA

These community classes are also a great way for kids to get physical activities, when the parent or the homeschool instructor is not as physically active. It is also a chance for the kid to meet other kids in their age group. Which can be one of the experiences that may not happen as much since the child is homeschooled.

Check out these options below of upcoming community activities happening in Augusta that is tailored towards homeschooled kids.
