Winter Weather Prompts Changes to Weekend Schedules
Winter Weather moved into the CSRA this morning in the way of freezing rain, sleet and snow sending some students home earlier than anticipated while others were scheduled Thursday to learn remotely today. County offices closed at noon in anticipation of deteriorating road conditions. There were too many accidents to count throughout the CSRA, prompting officials to ask people to stay off the roads.
A winter storm warning was issued at 9:20 am today for many counties in the CSRA until 4 am Saturday. The National Weather Service says additional snow and sleet accumulations up to one to two inches in the Augusta metro area are possible. Ice accumulations between one tenth and two tenths of an inch are possible tonight with more precipitation expected. The warning is in effect for portions of east central Georgia and central South Carolina.
