Harlem High School students involved in a fight that broke out on bus 1815 while enroute to school this morning will face disciplinary action.

School officials say the bus driver pulled over in a neighborhood when the altercation broke out. One of the students involved in the incident got off the bus.

In the meantime, Columbia County School District Police officers immediately responded to the scene, along with deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

They found the student who had gotten off the bus a short time later.

Harlem High School Students had Minor Injuries

First responders were called since two of the students involved in the incident had minor injuries.

"As a result of the incident, the school bus arrived at school approximately 15 minutes late and impacted only the students on the bus. The investigation is still ongoing, however all parties responsible will be held accountable according to the Code of Conduct and any violations of the law," according to an email sent to parents from Principal Casey Dees.

Dees added that inappropriate physical contact is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Suspicious Behavior Should be Reported

Any suspicious behavior on a school bus should be reported to the school bus driver, Columbia County School District Police, or by contacting the anonymous tip hotline at 706-541-3600.
