Austin talks about former Aiken jeweler, Porky Bradberry, and his murder yesterday.
Transcript:
Austin: Far more questions than answers, this morning, in the death of Porky Bradberry, the long time Aiken jeweler was found murdered in his home yesterday. Blunt force trauma. And authorities are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.
Bradberry’s name will be familiar to long time Augustans because he was implicated in the murder of his own wife back in 1982. Those charges that were first brought against him were later dropped because of inconsistencies in the stories of the men who were accusing him. He apparently was accused of hiring five individuals to murder his wife, Linda, at her place of business.
Uh, folks, while those charges were dropped because of inconsistencies in the witnesses testimony, Porky Bradberry was in and out of trouble virtually his whole life, and usually with the women that he was either married to or having relationships with. Many arrest over the years, many accusations. And still the man was said to be incredibly popular, and he was described by some as beloved, uh, very recently in press reports.
Very disturbing situation, though, with this death in Aiken, a lot of suspects, perhaps a lot of folks would have a reason to be, uh, upset with Mr. Bradberry for one reason or another. And the authorities promise a complete investigation, and and they hope, uh, they’ll turn up answers soon. But again, a strange and bizarre twist in the life story of Porky Bradberry, who was murdered yesterday in his home after years of scrutiny by police for other crimes committed in the area. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes.
