Pizza is the meal of all meals. Tell me you couldn't eat it everyday?

One of my favorite sayings is this: The worst pizza you’ve ever had is still the best pizza you’ve ever had.  I will stick by that 100%.  We asked and you voted.  Who has the best pizza in Augusta & Aiken?

Some Fun Facts About Pizza And Just How Much We Eat!

  • 93% of Americans have eaten pizza sometime in the last month.
  • Approximately 3 billion pizzas are sold in the US each year–that’s 46 slices a year per person.
  • 36% of all pizza orders include pepperoni.
  • Saturday is the most popular night to eat pizza.
  • More than 10% of food service sales in the US is pizza.
  • The first pizza ordered by a computer happened in 1974.

All of these great facts about pizza come from Papa Woody’s Pizza.

What makes a great pizza?  That is a question that if you ask 1000 people, you’ll get 1000 answers.  To me, it depends on the day of the week.  I love a good meat lover’s pizza with meatballs, pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and ham.  I also like my pizza with lots of sauce.   Some pizza makers will tell you that the more sauce you use, the more likely your pizza is to fold when you pick it up.

The Great Pizza Debate

Is it New York Style, Chicago Style, Sicilian Style, or even Detroit Style?  I think it all depends on where you are from.  I personally like the New York Style with the thin crust so you can fold and eat it on the go.

What Are The Best Pizza Toppings?

Another question that if we ask 100o people, we would get 1000 different answers.  So, what are the most popular pizza toppings?  According to the website Pizza Today, these are the top pizza toppings in the United States:

  • 5-Bacon
  • 4-Extra Cheese
  • 3-Mushrooms
  • 2-Sausage
  • 1-Pepperoni

When it comes to pizza there are no right or wrong answers.  It’s just what you like on your pizza that makes it great.  There is one debate that I don’t think we will ever settle but, I’m going to try.  Yes, PINEAPPLE belongs on pizza.
