The Big Game is happening this weekend.  And we all know there will be plenty of parties going on!  Is it truly a great party if there aren't wings, chips and dip, and beer?  If you're hosting friends and family at your home this weekend, there are some football party foods you shouldn't feed your dog.

Of course, there's always been a debate about feeding dogs from the table.  According to USA Today, feeding your dog certain foods might not be bad for them after all! The biggest thing is avoiding processed food.  But let's focus on those foods that you might be tempted to give your pup this weekend.

In this article from LifeHacker, veterinarian Alyser Cormanes, these are the 9 football party foods to avoid giving your dogs this weekend or any time!

Chicken Wings

The main reason these are bad for dog is because the bones can be sharp, which could lead to some internal trouble for your pup.  Plain chicken in small amounts can be fine.  But you shouldn't feed your dog the outer coating of a wing, especially if it's seasoned with strong or spicy flavors.  Garlic and onion powder are extremely dangerous for dogs.

Nachos

If there's a lot of herbs, spices, and salt, nachos aren't great for your dog.  Plain tortilla chips in small amounts are fine.  Smaller dogs are more at risk for salt toxicosis.  Also, cheese dips should be avoided - they can cause diarrhea and/or vomiting.

Nachos

Pizza

This is one that is okay in smaller amounts, particularly the crust.  This is mainly due to garlic and onions, which are bad for dogs.  But there are other toppings, including pepperoni, that your dog shouldn't eat.

Cookies

Cookies might be okay, as long as there's no chocolate.  But things like raisins, walnuts, macadamias, and pistachios are toxic too.  And then there's a chance of your dog being lactose intolerant - and milk or dairy-based toppings could be an issue.

Burgers

Another item that is okay... just as long as it's plain.  No condiments, onions, or cheese.  The best thing to do is make separate lean, unsalted patties for your pup.

Burger

Guacamole

This one should be avoided altogether.  Avocados contain persin, which is toxic in large amounts for dogs.  Also, the seasonings in the dip aren't good either!

Guacamole

Chili

Once again, spices and seasonings come in to play on this one.  Not only onion and garlic, but chili powder can be an issue.  It can cause irritation and burning, and could also lead to stomach issues.

Chili

Potato Skins

With potato skins, small amounts are fine.  But they do contain oxalates, which could cause long-term trouble for your dog's kidneys.

Pigs In A Blanket

It's tempting not to slip this delicious snack to your pup.  But long-term, too much fatty content can lead to pancreatitis.  If you do treat your pup with some pigs in a blanket, only do a small amount.
