Ah, the English language. It can be complicated, even for native speakers. And when it comes to sayings… it seems we’re really good at messing those up! Apparently, they are called “eggcorns,” a mispronunciation of “acorns.” This word is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a word or phrase that sounds like and is mistakenly used in a seemingly logical or plausible way for another word or phrase either on its own or as part of a set expression.” According to Matador Network, there are at least 14 sayings you may get wrong.
