Fox 54 News reports that the plane made an emergency landing on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville, Georgia. The plan was on the way to the Cherokee County Regional Airport before making its emergency landing. The plane began experiencing problems with the engine just after departure, leading to the emergency landing. Reports state that one of the pilots on board told air traffic controllers to let his parents and wife know he loved them.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the plane did not have enough power to make it to the airport.
In air traffic audio recorded by LiveATC.Net, you can hear, "I think we're not going to make it. Please tell my wife, Molly, I love her, and my parents. I love them so much," said one pilot.
Shortly after that audio, you can hear, "We're going to be fine."
Following the crash, Pilot Thomas Rogers spoke with WAGA-TV regarding the emergency landing. "We tried to glide back, did everything by the book, but realized we weren't going to make it back with how far out we were, so we came down the road."
After the landing, two people were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured or killed following the incident.
