Austin talks about China issuing a retaliation tariff on all American goods in response to the ongoing tariff efforts.

Austin: Word just in from China that they are issuing a retaliation tariff of 34% on all American goods. As I said just a moment ago, the retaliation has begun. President Trump said that this tariff business was going to be a painful process to go through, particularly in the very beginning, but that it is necessary.

I used the metaphor yesterday that it was going to be like chemotherapy. It makes you sick in the process of trying to make you better, and it is not a very pleasant process.

And that's exactly what we're going to be going through. One thing that's imminently clear, and this is a lesson that we should have learned in in such an important way during the COVID crisis that, unfortunately, we apparently did not learn. America has to be independent, particularly when it comes to medicines and other vital materials.

All of these imports that we have been getting from foreign countries through the years when it comes to, our medical necessities, when it comes to foodstuffs, when it comes to even military equipments. Unbelievable.

What we depend on foreigners for, it's got to end. We have to be self-sufficient. It is okay to import trinkets. It's okay to import some luxury items. It is not okay to be importing medicine.

It is not okay to be importing food in large quantities, and we need to be independent as much as we possibly can be in this day and age. What President Trump is prescribing is not fun and it is not going to be pleasant, but it isn't entirely necessary.

And again, using the example one more time, it's like chemotherapy. You're gonna get sick, and it's going to hurt, but it's all in the process of trying to make us better. Stay tuned.
