Austin talks about the 30-year-old man who was found dead in his home in Burke County.
Austin: Burke County Sheriff Alfonso Williams has yet another mess on his hands. This time, the angry family of a 30-year-old man who was found dead in his home, shot to death, apparently, by his live-in girlfriend who at first claimed it was an accidental shooting, the result of a gun cleaning accident, which makes no sense at 05:45 in the morning when the shooting took place, and then apparently has changed into something else.
Again, the 30-year-old that is deceased, Telvin Osborne, found dead in his home. Hannah Cobb, the live-in girlfriend who apparently shares children with this man, apparently has given several different stories, I’ve been told by sources, to law enforcement. But as of this morning, no charges against this woman at all.
Keep in mind, all of this played out over the weekend. And, again, there seems to be an inordinate amount of time where no charges have been brought against this woman. The family of this man just absolutely raising hell as you can well imagine. Others in the community are saying that there’s racism going on. The estranged girlfriend or excuse me.
The girlfriend in question is white. The gentleman the victim in this, Telvin Osborne, is black. It’s kinda hard to understand how that allegation could stick, though, because, again, Sheriff Williams is a black man himself. And the DA in the case, Jared Williams, no relation, by the way, is also black. Bottom line, it’s a tough situation, but there does not need to be days in between the discovery of a death and any kind of resolution on whether charges are coming forth in this case, particularly given the rather erratic behavior described in the initial, conversation about how this incident occurred.
Again, in the wee hours of dawn, supposedly after a night out drinking, this accident, quote, unquote, occurred. It’s time for Sheriff Williams to be far more aggressive about this, and he should have been aggressive about it yesterday. Answers are needed. The family’s demanding it, and, again, another PR mess for Sheriff Williams. That’s the comment. I’m Austin Rhodes. 95.1 FM News Talk, WGAC.
