Austin talks about keeping track of minor crimes after a be-on-the-lookout report for vandals in Columbia County.
Austin: Never did I think sharing a be-on-the-lookout report for some vandals in Columbia County would start a conversation about the importance and social relevance of keeping track of minor crimes. My goodness gracious. You would think that someone was writing about three or four dissertations on juvenile crime. Folks, there was a vandalism at Lady A. I think four young men went to the bathroom there, 09:00, Sunday night, this past Sunday night, and vandalized the bathroom.
Tore it up pretty good, damaged, the the plumbing, really really made a mess. There are incredibly good photographs of the four individuals that did this. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department put them online and asked us to help in identifying those young men. Now what followed was this incredibly, bizarre debate on why the cops are wasting their time on such things. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m not even gonna go there.
If we don’t effectively track down things like broken windows, vandalism, minor shoplifting in Columbia County, we’re gonna turn our nice little neighborhood into a crime haven, minor crime haven for a bunch of idiot kids, and we don’t want that happening. We want, especially young people that come in this area from outside our neighborhoods, to know that if they break the law, they’re gonna be punished. And if they’re stupid enough to do something like the vandalism at Lady A and her photograph, they most definitely will pay the price. It really is as simple as that. Other areas across the CSRA have neglected to prosecute such crimes, and they got a real situation on their hands as far as neighborhood blight goes.
Let’s not let that happen here. Go to the Austin Rhodes Show page on Facebook. Check those photographs out. If you recognize the people, please turn them in to the authorities. Let’s send a message to young people everywhere.

You misbehave in Columbia County. You’ll pay a legal price for it. As far as their, eternal souls go, I’ll let you pray about that, and God bless you. Absolutely. And that’s the comment. I’m Austin Rhodes. 95.1 FM News Talk, WGAC.
