Motorcycle accidents in Aiken County over the weekend resulted in one death Saturday, and another early Sunday morning.

One person from the Sunday morning crash is reported to be in critical condition.

Motorcycle Accidents First Reported Saturday Night

The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to Rudy Mason Parkway and Wrights Mills Road in Aiken just after 9 pm Saturday.

Officials said that's where a Chevy pickup truck was attempting to turn east onto Rudy Mason Parkway when it collided with the motorcycle that was headed west.

The motorcycle rider, 26-year-old Patrick Laoreno of Aiken, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck and a passenger in that vehicle were not injured.

Deadly Motorcycle Accident Reported Early Sunday Morning

Just hours after one motorcycle rider was killed in Aiken County, a second deadly accident was reported.

The Aiken County Coroner's Office was called to the 6000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at 4:15 am Sunday after two motorcycles collided.

"A group of motorcycles were traveling on Jefferson Davis Highway when one of the motorcyclists lost control and collided with the victim causing him to exit the right side of the road, strike a guardrail, and several signs," said Coroner Darryl Ables.

The victim was identified as 47-year-old Troy J. Johnson of Pamplico, South Carolina. He died at the scene. The second rider was transported to an area hospital and was reported to be in critical condition.

Toxicology test results are pending in both fatal motorcycle accidents.
