Hurricane Helene food and other items are still being accepted and distributed in the Augusta area

Water and food distribution locations have been available at various sites since Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene relief in the way of food, water and other supplies is still available this week in Columbia County.

Kiokee Baptist Church on Ray Owens Road in Appling will have non-perishable food items, bottled water, toiletries, diapers and additional items, when available, through October 20. Distribution hours are from 9 am to 12 pm.

Hurricane Helene FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers

  • Richmond County: Hub for Community Innovation, 631 Chafee Avenue
  • Washington County: Sandersville School Building Authority, 514 North Harris Street

Homeowners and renters in dozens of Georgia counties including Burke, Columbia, Emanuel, Jefferson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Warren and Washington can visit any open center to meet with FEMA representatives.

The quickest way to apply for FEMA disaster assistance is online at DisasterAssistance.gov. You can also apply using the FEMA App for mobile devices or call toll-free 800-621-3362.

Augusta, Georgia Community Donation Center Accepting Donations

Many items are needed to help those in the community still trying to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. If you can help with any of the listed items, take donations to 4101 Windsor Spring Road, Suite 10 in Hephzibah between 9 am and 6 pm

  • First Aid kits
  • Personal hygiene items including soap, lotion, tooth brushes and toothpaste, adult diapers
  • Baby supplies including diapers of all sizes, formula, baby wipes, baby wash, baby lotion
  • Paper goods
  • Household cleaning supplies
  • Laundry detergent
  • Brooms, mops, trash bags
  • Plastic totes
  • Pet supplies including dog and cat food
  • Long-term recovery needs: building materials, appliances and furniture

Food Distribution Locations

Golden Harvest Food Bank will continue to have food distribution sites this week. Check their Facebook page daily for distribution sites.

Tuesday, October 15: Drop-off locations at various times include Good Shepherd Church on Olive Road; Broad Street Ministries; Edward Senior Memorial Center in Trenton; Richmond Summit on Broad Street; Powell Pointe on Twiggs Circle in Augusta; Midville City Hall; The Peabody on Walton Way; Roberson Grove in Waynesboro; and Calvary Temple AG on Peach Orchard Road in Augusta.
