P. Diddy In Big Trouble
If you’re an adult of a certain age, you probably read the news of Sean “P. Diddy” Combs being arrested and thought, “Oh, another rapper in trouble with the law.” But this arrest for sex trafficking and racketeering is pretty significant and thought to be a long time coming by some.
The Charges Against P. Diddy
The six-month-long investigation culminated in a 14 page long indictment which was unsealed by the U.S. District Attorney‘s office for the Southern District of New York on Tuesday. It includes several serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. The indictment accuses Combs of engaging in a persistent and pervasive pattern of abuse toward women and other individuals. The abuse was at times verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual.
Part of the pattern of abuse according to the indictment, was Combs manipulating women to participate in highly orchestrated performances of sexual activity with male sex workers. It also states that Combs and others acting at his direction made arrangements for women and commercial sex workers to be flown to his location.
Diddy’s “Freak Off” parties have been widely gossiped about for years and the indictment also includes items found during the raid of Comb’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami in March that seem to confirm some of the wilder rumors. “Law enforcement seized various Freak Off supplies including narcotics and more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant,” the indictment reads.
P. Diddy Will Have His Day In Court
Reportedly, authorities also confiscated firearms and ammunition, including three AR-15s with the serial numbers that had been defaced. Combs attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said the music mogul has cooperated with the investigations and has pled not guilty. He said Combs looks forward to clearing his name in court.
Having worked in Top 40 radio back when Diddy was starting out, I can tell you a lot of celebs will be watching these proceedings closely and praying for their names not to be affiliated with P. Diddy over the next few months. His parties were well attended by anyone who was anyone at the time and some seriously raunchy things reportedly went down. From all walks of life – entertainment, sports and political figures alike may be implicated and these charges could result in the fall of many, many more in Hollywood and DC as well, we’ll just have to wait and see how the wheels of justice turn.
