Help Veteran’s K9 Solutions Help Our Community
Friends to The Austin Rhodes Show, service K9 Sailor and his handler Jerry Lyda of Veteran’s K9 Solutions are asking for a little help. You may remember Mr. Lyda is a Master Dog Trainer and the co-owner, along with his son Jay, of Southern K-9 Solutions and they are dedicated to all aspects of dog training. They’re also the co-founders of Veterans K9 Solutions, an organization that’s bringing canine and veterans together in a unique concept that has a simple goal; rehabilitate a canine in order to rehabilitate a veteran. VK9S takes shelter dogs from a bleak life in a stressful situation and trains them to be service dogs for veterans. This basically saves two lives, the veteran and the shelter dog.
Jerry and Jay already had a successful dog obedience training and boarding business with Southern K-9 Solutions when they were asked to board some pups that were going to be trained as service dogs back in 2011. It occurred to them that they could do that as well and the brainchild of these two Master Dog Trainers as born.
Since Jerry is a veteran of the Vietnam war himself, they decided to make a not-for-profit side of the business and incorporated it as a 501(c) (3) non-profit, volunteer run organization, providing free Service Dog training to disabled veterans.
Helping Our Veterans and K9s!
Today there are so many veterans in need of help from emotional to physical disabilities. Likewise, there are hundreds of dogs in shelters waiting and hoping for the chance to be rescued. The unique concept of Veterans K9 Solutions, Inc is that by saving a shelter dog you can also save a veteran.
Saving a shelter dog and rehabilitating them provides the dog with a purpose, gives life back to them, and enables them to provide an emotional and physical bond with the veteran in need. Jerry and Jay’s love for dogs and gratitude towards those whom served makes Veterans K9 Solutions goal simple: “Giving back to those in need by saving two lives at a time.”
You Can Help Veteran’s K9 Solutions
Veterans K9 Solutions are currently in need of donations in order to build a large kennel for the adopted dogs. These dogs will be kept in the kennel as they are being trained so they can be placed with veterans to become service dogs. Donation is easy, simply go to their website and click on the donate button. They’ve already got the concrete poured and you can help them get this done. There are far too many good dogs in shelters that they can save and in turn, the dogs can save their veteran.
