Gas Leak Closes Part of Furys Ferry Road
A gas leak has closed Furys Ferry Road at Oleander Trail, according to Columbia County officials.
The road closure begins at Furys Ferry Road and Evans-to-Locks Road, and Furys Ferry Road and North Belair Road.
Motorists are being asked to take an alternate route for the time being.
Officials don’t have an estimated time as to when the necessary repairs will be made and the road can be reopened.
Lane Closures Due to Road Construction in Columbia County
- Extended lane closures on Faircloth Drive and Government Center Way due to pavement resurfacing. The work will take place from today, June 5, to Saturday, June 8, from 9:00 am until 3 pm, weather permitting.
- Temporary lane closures for Oakley Pirkle Road due to resurfacing activities. They will take place today, June 5, through Saturday, June 8, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, weather permitting.
- Temporary lane closure on North Belair Road at the intersection of Furys Ferry Road from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm until Friday, June 7. The temporary lane closure is associated with the roadway-widening project for Furys Ferry Road.
- Temporary lane closure on Furys Ferry Road between Sullivan Hartfield Road and Blackstone Camp Road from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm through Saturday, June 8.
Whenever you approach a work zone, slow down. Allow extra distance between vehicles, watch for advanced warning signs, obey road crew flaggers, and expect the unexpected. If possible, plan to take an alternate route and/or allow additional time for commuting.
