Get Paid Training to Become Emergency Medical Responder in Augusta
Get paid training next month to become an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) with Gold Cross EMS, locally-owned emergency medical provider in the CSRA.
Gold Cross EMS is hosting a paid 3-week long training academy for men and women who want to become certified EMRs, hoping to combat what’s become a nationwide shortage of emergency medical personnel.
The EMR Class Begins in June
The EMR class will begin Monday, June 24, at Gold Cross EMS headquarters at 4328 Wheeler Road in Martinez. Those interested must apply online at www.goldcrossems.com by Monday, June 17.
The 3-week academy is free. Full-time employment with benefits, which include health insurance, begin on the first day of class.
Trainees will have to complete a 40-hour work week and take the necessary coursework to prepare for the national examination. Uniforms, textbooks and equipment will be provided for those accepted into the training program.
After certification, graduates will get an immediate wage increase and will qualify for other incentives and promotions offered by Gold Cross EMS.

Requirements to Apply Gold Cross EMR Program
- must be at least 21
- must have a high school diploma or GED
- must hold a valid Georgia driver’s license
- pass a background check
- provide a 3-year Motor Vehicle Record
- pass a physical agility test (PAT)
- pass urine and drug screen
- A 2-year full time employment commitment to Gold Cross EMS is required
