Augusta Mall shooting suspect arrested on Monday

An Augusta Mall shooting suspect is now in custody.

The Augusta Mall shooting was reported at 1:43 pm inside Dillard's off Wrightstboro Road leaving a man injured.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office announced today they have arrested 24-year-old Tybrea Nelson for her role in the shooting. She's being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on two counts of Aggravated Assault.

Hours after the shooting incident, Richmond County Investigators posted a surveillance picture of two women who were wanted for questioning in connection with the incident. It's not known if the other female, whose identity was not released, is still being sought.

Augusta Mall Shooting News Release from Sunday

"On Sunday, April 28, at 1:43 pm, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded to Dillard's in Augusta Mall, 3450 Wrightsboro Road, in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, Deputies were informed the suspect had fled the scene and the victim had left before the police arrived. Deputies later learned the victim had driven themselves to a local hospital for treatment. The Augusta Mall will remain closed for the rest of the day and resume normal business hours on Monday. The investigation is ongoing and there is not further information available at this time."

Augusta Mall did reopen, on schedule, Monday morning.
