You may know it as the Jud C Hickey Center, which changed its name last year to Via Cognitive Health. Now, after serving the community in cramped quarters for years, they have a new state-of-the-art building.

Via Cognitive Health

According to their website:

"Via Cognitive Health is a local, Augusta area non-profit organization that offers research-based day programming for individuals diagnosed with a cognitive decline disorder, like Alzheimer’s, to engage in mental and physical exercise, plus socialization, to promote a higher level of cognitive function for longer. The result? Our members and their care partners can maximize their quality of life post-diagnosis. They can live, play, and work more freely in our community as the Via Cognitive Health helps them navigate the disease."

Music for Memories

The center was built because of the generosity of the community. You have probably bought a ticket for the Music for Memories concert they do each year to raise money. The sponsors of that concert and many donors in the Augusta area have stepped up in a big way to make this new facility possible. Located on Washington Road in Augusta. As soon as you walk in, you'll see they obviously thought of everything to help their patients in this daycare center. They even have a putting green. Hey, it is Augusta!

The new Via Cognitive Health Center is an excellent example of Augustans joining together to help their neighbors and the Augusta area community.

Tee has worked with KICKS 99 for over 24 years as Operations Manager and Program Director and is on-air each afternoon 3p-7p. When he’s not working, you’ll find him traveling the back roads, taking pictures, and searching for the next dive diner. Favorite place to visit? That’s easy. Folly Beach, SC. He’s usually there at least a few times a year. He lives in North Augusta and on Saturdays in the fall, you’ll find him cooking out and watching his Clemson Tigers. Tee likes to write about travel, Augusta local dive bars and diners and destinations in the Carolinas, as well as new business.
