An Augusta house fire victim Sunday has been identified.

Augusta firefighters were called to the burning structure in the 4600 block of Crested Butte Road last night, where they say flames and smoke were visible.

Firefighters pulled one man from the burning structure and Coroner Mark Bowen said the fire victim was pronounced dead.

Bowen said the victim has been identified as 62-year-old Antonio Bernard Jones.  An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of his death.

The Augusta house fire was brought under control and officials are trying to determine how it started.

The Augusta Fire Department will release more information as it becomes available.

Overnight Fire at Jack Rogers Tire Pros in Aiken

An overnight fire at Jack Rogers Tire Pros in the 1700 block of Richland Avenue in Aiken has some lanes completely blocked.

The fire broke out just after 2 am today and firefighters are still working to extinguish the blaze.

For now, all four lanes of Richland Avenue will be shut down from Beaufort Street to Old Wagener Road.  The area is expected to remain closed for several hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries. have been reported.
