Burke County Drug Bust Begins with Traffic Stop
A Burke County drug bust started with a traffic stop Saturday and ended with the arrests of three men.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy tried to stop a vehicle near Savannah Avenue at Stone Street for an equipment violation and that’s where the bust began.
Investigators say one of the passengers in the vehicle reportedly tried to get out, but followed orders when he was told to remain inside.
Once the deputy said he smelled marijuana in the vehicle, he called for back-up.
What Deputies Found
A search of the vehicle revealed a bag on the floorboard that the Burke County Sheriff’s Office says contained 65 individual bags of marijuana. Total weight of the marijuana, according to the sheriff’s office, was 214 grams. Deputies also seized $3,140 in cash.

“Proactive patrols by our deputies continue to get drugs, illegal firearms and wanted persons off the streets and you can count on us to keep Burke County a safe place to work, live and raise your family,” said Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams
