Another Big Lottery Winner in Aiken

Another big lottery winner in Aiken!  The luck continues there with news that another person has won some big money playing a scratch-off game recently.

The South Carolina Education Lottery says a woman just won $100,000 playing the Lady Jumbo Bucks Crossword lottery game.  Her odds of winning the top prize were 1-in-600,000, according to a news release from the lottery.

The winner, who can choose to remain anonymous, originally thought she had won $1,000.  She went to work, then realized later she had won the game's top prize of $100,000.

The woman purchased the winning Lady Jumbo Bucks Crossword ticket at the Murphy gas station on Richland Avenue West.  The store received a commission of $1,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

There have been 2 $2million dollar lottery winners in Aiken County since January this year.

The first $2 million lottery ticket was purchased at the Circle K at 1014 E. Pine Log Road in Aiken in January.  The winner played the $20 Millionaire's Club scratch-off.

The second $2 million lottery ticket was purchased at the Circle K at 2948 Whiskey Road earlier this month.  This Circle K location is less than four miles from the location on E. Pine Log Road where the first $2 million winning ticket was sold.

Both Circle K stores received a commission of $20,000 for selling the claimed tickets.

South Carolina and Georgia are among the 11 states that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

If you haven't already purchased some lottery tickets for tonight's Powerball drawing or Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing, you might want to.  The jackpot for the Powerball drawing tonight is an estimated $800 million, while the Mega Millions jackpot has soared to $1.1 billion.

If there's a Powerball winner tonight, it would be the sixth-largest prize in the game's history.  The last Powerball jackpot was won in early January in Michigan with a single winner claiming the $842 million prize.

The drawing for Tuesday night's Mega Millions jackpot has topped $1 billion for the sixth time in less than six years.  There have been 30 consecutive drawings without a jackpot win.  If there is a jackpot winner Tuesday night, it would be the fifth largest prize in the history of the game.  Tickets are $2 each and are sold in 45 states, including Georgia and South Carolina.

Don't get your hopes up too much.  The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.
