An Evans woman who's 4-year-old son fell out of the back seat of her vehicle and was severely injured last week in Grovetown has been charged.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office says 38-year-old Jamey Dakai Kadhim was traveling through the newly opened Diverging Diamond Interchange on Lewiston Road just passed the I-20 East off-ramp around 1:30 pm March 11.

Her son was in the back seat of her Toyota Highlander, not in a child safety seat and not restrained.

The Sheriff's Office says the left rear door of the vehicle opened while the SUV was moving, and the child fell out on to the roadway.  He was taken to Children's Hospital of Georgia with serious injuries.

Charges Against Kadhim

Kadhim was charged March 14 with Reckless Conduct as well as a child restraint violation.
